Yentna is the largest female from the litter. In appearance, she resembles her father more, but she shares a distinctive trait with her mother Galena: her unmistakable “owl’s gaze.” When she is interested in something, she tilts her head and looks with that unique gaze — who could possibly resist it? Certainly not us. Like her mother, Yentna has a rather reserved nature. But as soon as it comes to running, none of that remains: she hops and jumps with full energy, as if nothing can stop her. By now, Yentna has stepped out of her mother’s shadow and reliably and confidently leads our sled dog teams — right into the wilderness.

Name origin: Checkpoint on the Iditarod
Yentna is named after the Yentna River in Alaska, which also lends its name to an important checkpoint on the legendary Iditarod sled dog race. The Yentna checkpoint is located deep in the rugged Alaskan wilderness and serves as a significant rest and preparation spot for mushers and their teams before the often challenging stages ahead.
