Nome is the son of our former lead dog Galena, who has sadly passed away. He is an extremely pleasant and easygoing male who gets along well with everyone and prefers to take a step back rather than provoke conflict. Perhaps it’s because he grew up as the only male among a bunch of sisters?
Nome has developed into a reliable, enduring, and strong sled dog who keeps a cool head even in challenging conditions. During our tours in the mountains in winter 2023, he took a significant step forward in his development – stepping into the paw prints of his mother Galena: as an outstanding command lead dog and confident offtrail leader.
Date of birth: April 28, 2020
Name origin: Destination of the Iditarod
The name Nome refers to the legendary town in Alaska that marks the finish line of the famous Iditarod sled dog race. This race is considered one of the toughest in the world and stands for endurance, determination, and the deep bond between humans and dogs – values that are clearly reflected in our Nome. His name is thus a tribute to the great tradition of sled dog sports – and to the remarkable performance that dogs like him deliver every single day in harness.
